the longest...tour vets please

#249857 1 year, 6 months ago
what is the longest...

a) single, FULL (you went in everynight) tour you ever did?

b) the longest stretch of consecutive shows in which you did not miss one from the band. (tour to tour, run to run, etc)

can be any band but i assume most peoples answers will be GD or one of their offspring bands.
who else is gonna bring you, a broken arrow?

Never did an actual full tour. The most shows I ever saw in one tour was 15. Summer 92. It was a 17 show tour.
I did 7 shows, then skipped 2 in NC. My tour partners had some issues in NC, so we stayed at a friends condo, in
Ocean Beach Md. Then did the remaining 8 shows.
I can't come down, it's plain to see.

Since the GD played Philly and NYC so often I didn't need to do much actual touring. Without having to travel more than two or three hundred miles for any one show I could still average something like eight shows most years.

I believe the most consecutive shows I saw was four -- one at Nassau then three at the Spectrum.

I also did four with the Stones once -- one in NY then three in Philly.

Last years fall west coast tour. Did every night of the 13 night tour! It was a once in a lifetime thing and I enjoyed every second of it.

I saw several full tours but I'd have to go back and count. 83 was my best year, I saw:

First 6 west coast shows (Tempe -> SF)
Next 13 East Coast shows (Hampton -> Phila)
skipped 3 west shows (Greeks)
Next 8 east coast shows (Saratoga -> Chicago)
skipped 4 west coast (Ventura and Frost)
Net 13 east coast shows (Portland -> Austin)
skipped 2 west coast (Grass Valley and Watsonville)
Next 11 east coast shows (Richmond -> Syracuse)
skipped 2 west coast shows (Marin)
Next 4 west coast shows (SF, New Years)

So I saw 19 in a row and two 13 show tours, 55 of 66 for the year, if I counted correctly. I lived on the east coast, it got to expensive to fly to the west coast for only a couple of shows, otherwise I would have gone to everything.

I've seen Steely Dan but I wish I'd seen that line-up.
